Dr. Surender Pal Singh Sodhi is a rare blend of excellent academician, able administrator, skilled surgeon, researcher with over 90 National, International Publications, Reviewer in top journals, author of various chapters in numerous books; over 40 global keynote presentations, having qualities of great leader, socially very active and above all a humble and kind human being. Dr Sodhi has more than 35 years of clinical experience of excellence in performing various Maxillofacial surgical procedures. He is a post-graduate and PhD Guide since last more than 15 years. He is also the external examiner and paper setter for many universities for conducting graduate, post-graduate as well as PhD examination.
He had been Chairman, Board of Studies, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot 2017-18, 2018-19, 2020-2021, 2022-23 and Editor of Baba Farid University Dental Journal. He had been Member of Dental Council of India (2007-2013); Executive Member of Dental Council of India (2009-10); Executive Member of Punjab Dental Council, (2018-23)
Pioneer To Start Implant Dentistry In Northern India, Dr Sodhi started placing implants in 1997 & has placed innumerable dental implants.
He had been Conferred Honorary Diplomat in Implantology by academy of Oral implantology. He is a Fellow and Diplomat of International Congress of Oral Implantology, Fellow of International College of Dentist (India, Sri Lanka and Nepal section), Fellow of International College of Continuing Dental Education, Fellow of American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Fellow of International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Member, AOCMF in AO foundation. He is Life member of Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India, Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India, Indian Academy of Maxillofacial Surgeons of India and Indian Dental Association. He has been decorated with several awards/accolades/honours from various professional bodies like IDA, Punjab Dental Council, DCI, AOMSI and various other professional and social, administrative bodies. He has been awarded Bhagwan Dass Arora Oration Award by Punjab Science Academy. Awarded by International College of Dentists (India section) for outstanding achievements during graduation. He has been the winner for the Academician of the year and Special Jury Award – Heroic Dentistry Award of the year -2019 by Famdent Excellence in Dentistry Awards; Most promising Dean of the Year by Indian Health Professional Awards; Best Principal of the Year by Heal talk;
He had been Organising Chairman and Guest Speaker at Masterclass 2023(postgraduates) organized by BFUHS and Punjab Dental Council under the aegis of Deptt of Medical Education and Research Punjab-2023; Organising Chairman and Guest Speaker at National Workshop organized by Indian Academy of Maxillofacial Surgery-2023; Organizing Chairman – 16th National Conference of Society of Oral Implantology-2009; Organizing Chairman – 42nd Punjab State IDA Conference-2002; Organizing Chairman – 3rd Punjab State Chapter Conference of Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of India-2013.
